LUCENA CITY, Quezon, May 3 (PIA) -- Eighteen rice farmers from the island municipalities of Perez and Alabat recently finished a course on suitable technology in rice farming.

Entitled “Pagsasanay para sa mga Angkop na Teknolohiya sa Pagpapalayan,” (Training for the Proper Technologies on Farming) the training was held April 29-May 3, 2013 at the Ouan’s Worth Farm Resort located in this city.

The activity, organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) 4A, was conducted in response to the request of the island farmers during the consultation series conducted by Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala last year.

According to ATI 4A, the activity aimed to provide the participants with knowledge and skills on the latest technologies on rice production.

Resource persons came from the regional office of the Department of Agriculture (DA), PhilRice, graduates of training of trainors from the local government unit.

Also part of the training was the visitation of experimental sites and technology demonstration at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and PhilRice in Los Banos, Laguna. (CPG/PIA4A with report from Rolando V. Maningas, ATI4A)
