PIA | Pagbilao power plant plans to add 400 megawatts power supply

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Sept. 23 (PIA) -- The Team Energy Corporation (TEC)-Pagbilao power plant is planning an additional 400 megawatts production to its power supply to meet the rising demand of electricity needed to energize the country.

Greg Romualdez, head, external affairs of TEC, said they are set to construct another facility for their expansion plan inside the current power plant facility in barangay Pulo in Pagbilao town.

"We informed the provincial government of Quezon about the expansion plan of Pagbilao power plant as TEC's response to address the country’s power shortage. That's why we presented ourselves voluntarily to the members of Sangguniang Panglalawigan to show our expansion program," Romualdez said.

Romualdez told the board members that the 400- megawatt expansion plan of the power plant will generate a much higher tax revenue for Quezon Province as it will be run thru a new privatized scheme.

He added that the same environmental standards will be strictly complied with in the new power facility.

Currently, the Pagbilao power plant is operating by 730-megawatt coal-fired. (PIA-Quezon)

The National Institute of Fisheries and Technology Development Center of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (NIFTCD-BAFR) initiated the training that benefit the fishermen from the coastal towns of Quezon Province. Dr. Wesley Rosario of NIFTCD-BAFR said the hatchery is considered the first government hatchery in the country that now produces "pompano" fingerlings, a marine fish in the Trachinotus genus of the Carangidae family better known as "jacks," a high value specie. “The hatchery in Quezon Province is considered the first government hatchery in the country that produces the said variety of fish, and maybe number 2 producer aside from a private hatchery in Dagupan City”, Rosario said. Rosario also said that aqua culture has a significant role because it contributed almost 48 percent of fish and seafood in the market, thus, it is very important to develop the fishing industry in this province. The province of Quezon is located strategically, very near to Metro Manila, the number 1 market for fish and sea foods produce in Quezon and low priced compared from products coming from other places of the country.
