LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Nov. 26 (PIA) --The provincial office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) here is currently implementing the construction of water supply system projects in the towns of Pitogo, Calauag and Real through its “bottom-up planning and budgeting program.

DILG-Quezon provincial director Enrico Damot said the program aims to provide the residents in said areas enough supply of potable water by building water supply system in selected barangays.

“These projects are in line with the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) and the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) of the national government specifically on poverty alleviation,” Damot said

With project cost of P6.7 million, the construction of water supply system is ongoing at: barangay Maaliw, Pitogo; barangay Anahawan, Calauag and barangays Llavac and Tignoan in Real.

The construction of water system is the priority project identified by civil society organizations (CSO) in 2011 for said municipalities. The CSO formulated a plan and submitted to the local poverty reduction action team (LPRAT), then submitted the plan to the PRPRAT and sent the proposed project/ plan to concerned agencies for budgeting and implementation.

Earlier, the DILG conducted civil society assembly last October 2013 and LPRAT orientation workshop from November 1-14, 2013 in the 40 local government units in the province as part of the ‘bottom-up planning and budgeting program” aimed to identify priority projects and formulate workplan for implementation next year.
