DTI confiscates unlicensed fire extinguishers in Quezon

Tuesday 10th of December 2013

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Dec. 10 (PIA) --Fourteen cylinders of fire extinguishers worth P43,000 were confiscated from a manufacturer in this city during an on-the-spot inspection conducted by a team of enforcers of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Calabarzon last November 13.

The establishment, previously a licensed manufacturer two years ago, did not respond to the notices of DTI to conduct annual quality system audit and product testing which is required for the renewal and continuous use of its PS Mark license.

This prompted the DTI to conduct the on-the-spot inspection and the discovery that the establishment was producing dry-chemical type of fire extinguishers at a time when its license is no longer valid which is a violation of the Product Standards Law (Republic Act 4109) and the DTI’s Department Administrative Order No. 02, Series of  2007 (DAO 02:2007).
